I still remember when my father brought my first set of prints home from having them developed and that was it, I was seriously bitten by the photography bug. I took photos of everything I thought might make a good photograph.... more family photographs and pet photographs, and of course more outdoors scenery type shots, going into downtown Cincinnati with my father when he went there for whatever reason and snapping shots along the way of the architecture from all sorts of odd angles, even laying back on a bench or upside down to get different looks. I wonder what the people walking by thought of this little kid shooting photographs upside down! I wish I still had those photographs.
I had been dabbling in artwork of various mediums ever since I could remember and instantly saw this as another one of my tools to do more and different art. A couple of years later I was trusted with the family camera which I am glad to have back in my posession again after all these years .
I started taking floral shots and other still life photographs and, yes, you have probably guessed by now, girls. Go figure, hmm?
I remember being on vacation at Myrtle Beach, Spring Made Beach and Pawleys Island up and down the coasts of the Carolinas on summer vacation as a kid, snapping photographs of girls and women in their bikinis on the beach and on the campsites where we stayed. Yes, I started way early. But, alas, those photos never made it back to me if I remember correctly. Being from a strict Christian family, I think good 'ol Dad, a preacher, confiscated them. That did not curb my habit though . My collection of swim wear magazines, Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues, and Victorias Secret catalogs that would come in the mail grew, I remember sneaking peeks into my uncles girly magazine collections. This only "stoked the coals" so to speak.
At the age of 19 I consciously entered into BDSM. The reason I say consciously is because, looking back, as far as the age of 8 to 10 I was doing things with others that would be considered BDSM oriented, I was just not aware that others did the things I was doing, until I was 19. Becoming actively involved in BDSM opened up a completely new avenue of photography for me which I began exploring in my late 20's not long after moving to California. I did a small shoot in my apartment living room which was for a small time regional adult magazine publisher back East. One day I may put those images up to show my early years of fetish photography.
Those shoots led to better contacts in the industry, better models, lots more practice, much better photographs and an actual career in photography. Many of my models are not models at all. Having no experience whatsoever, some of them wanted to just do the photographs for fun.
I had a tough time picking out which photos to include in each section as all the models on display here were such fun to work with and made for a lot of great shots. I plan on making a series of hardcopy of some of the photography shown here on SavageStudios.com as well as a lot of my art photography of various types. Most photographs displayed here are available as open edition hardcopy 8x10 and larger prints which will be signed and numbered by me and, upon request, signed by the model for a small extra charge. All signing fees go to the model. Let it also be known that I give each model a 50% share of the net profits from the sales of any of his or her prints. Afterall, without them I would have none of these photographs.
I hope you enjoy viewing these photographs as much as I enjoyed making them!
